When your body can relax and deepen into its own process, emotions release, old beliefs drop away, and overwhelm in your body resolves.

  • Emotions behave like the weather - they come and go, letting you know how you feel and what you need.

    Emotions that are held back limit your self-expression and frustrate your ability to meet your needs.

    When you hold emotions in your body, you can feel vulnerable with unexpected outbursts of anger or sadness.

    You can also feel tense or stressed which saps your vitality, especially when you’ve done it for a long time.

  • Ongoing pain can come from your nervous system being stuck in a loop. This can manifest anywhere in your body.

    Often a person who experiences frequent headaches, backaches, or migraines has undigested overwhelm in their body.

    Medication suppresses symptoms; it doesn’t resolve the cause.

  • When your body is overwhelmed it protects you by:

    1. Engaging your social nervous system to soothe others and yourself. This looks like people pleasing and being compliant.

    2. Distancing you from the trigger. This could be withdrawing into yourself, or avoiding something or someone.

    3. Activating your fight response - you become more assertive and attempt to control the situation.

    4. Shutting down and going into a freeze response. This can look you collapsing, zoning out, or being more passive.

    You can keep using these protections for years without realising. Your body needs to process the overwhelm.

  • Your mind and body are one. When you are overwhelmed, your mind can create story loops that disconnect you from experiencing your body. Your physical systems stay stuck in repetitive responses.

    In effect, your past becomes your present.

    Your body and mind need to work together in real time to process your overwhelm.

Somatic Services

Somatic therapy supports your body to resolve overwhelm, shock & trauma. I work directly with your body through therapeutic touch and I use inquiry to help heal your body - mind connection.

Somatic therapy helps you open, release, and transform what’s unresolved and held inside your body-mind. My intention is for my work to help you live your life more fully and with ease.

I offer a truely body-led transformational process. My approach is grounded in a deep understanding of how the mind can both hinder and aid healing and how to support the body to let go from within.

  • NeuroAffective Touch® is a professional psychobiological approach that integrates the key elements of somatic psychotherapy, attachment and developmental theory, and affective and interpersonal neurobiology.

    Through offering direct communication and support to the body at the nonverbal level where we all receive our first imprints, NeuroAffective Touch® treats lifelong emotional traumas to reconnect us to the wholeness of our relational matrix.

  • Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is a hands-on, body-based, therapeutic healing modality.

    It is characterised by a strong orientation to the holism of the human experience where both the body’s anatomy and physiology are related to in real time with the subtle forces of life that act through the interface of the body’s fluids.

    Bodies like being listened to and seen. When the body is deeply heard, it gets to tell its story and change happens.

    The therapy creates a safe space for traumatic experiences to emerge and resolve smoothly without being overwhelming or re-stimulating.

  • Somatic inquiry supports trauma resolution and inner development by integrating mind and body with the unfolding process.

    Clients are guided to become aware of what is arising in their body, explore what is arising in the moment, and make links between thoughts, feelings, and body sensations. This aids the unfolding process, and supports integration.

Modalities

Essential oils

I offer essential oils to my clients because they are a great resource for coming into the present moment.

Essential oils are aromatic, volatile liquids, found within many shrubs, flowers, trees, roots, bushes, and seeds.

When essential oils are inhaled, they are then transported to the limbic lobe of the brain. This area stores emotions and memory. Essential oils help to release, calm and balance emotions.
